NEWS FLASH: Deal with DirectTV ?????

Jon Wilner tweet this morning:

"Piecing together info from sources on Pac12 & DirecTV: Cant predict last-minute snags but would b very surprised if deal not done "

Great news!!! Gives Charter customers an option to switch if they don't make a deal with the Pac 12 Networks.  Remember the old cigarette ad "I would rather fight than switch" Well, This might be the reverse for Charter customers.  We would rather switch than fight !

For the youngsters out there this from wikipedia:

"Us Tareyton smokers would rather fight than switch!" is an enduring slogan which appeared in magazine, newspaper, and television advertisements for Tareyton cigarettes from 1963 until 1981. It was the American Tobacco Company's most visible ad campaign in the 1960s and 1970s.

UPDATE: tweet from Wilner:
"And once deal in place, Pac12Nets will be airing on DTV in matter of hours. Groundwork being laid for transmission of signal "

  1. UPDATE:
DirecTV has NOT made a deal with the Pac-12 as of yet. Both sides are still in talks as of today. But if a deal can be done soon, look for the P12N to appear sometime this week on DTV.

I do agree that if a deal happens between DTV and the P12N, then the pressure will definitely be on Charter to get a deal done very soon or as I have mentioned before, they will have to face the fact regarding customers (especially those in P12 areas) canceling their Charter cable service and heading to DTV. Something I believe Charter cannot afford to have happen. It would also be a PR nightmare explaining why they refuse to offer this new network to P12 fans.
