Charter Baloney Part II

In "Charter Baloney Part I"(as posted below)  a mouthpiece for Charter basically says the Pac 12 Networks are not on Charter because it costs too much and the Pac 12 Networks wants every Charter Customer in the Pac 12 footprint (states that have Pac 12 Schools) to get the Pac 12 Networks on their basic tier level.  What he doesn't say is the following cable and satellite providers have decided to carry the Pac 12 Networks on the same terms offered to Charter! They are:

Arizona

California (Southern)

California (Northern)

Oregon

Washington

Mountain

In addition, the Pac 12 Networks is available online through these cable/satellite providers:

Access to watch the live Pac-12 Networks streaming 24/7 over the Web & devices is through our Pac-12 Now fan experience.  Currently supported on the WebiPadiPhone, and iPod Touch, Pac-12 Now is available to customers who get a Pac-12 channel as part of their package from any of these TV Providers:
  • DISH
  • Time Warner Cable
  • Cox Communications
  • Bright House Networks
  • Bend Broadband
  • Suddenlink
  • Frontier Communications
  • CC Communcations
  • Crestview Cable Communications
  • Canby Telcom
  • Rancho Murieta
  • TCT West
  • Comcast / Xfinity: Comcast / XfinityTV customers who get a Pac-12 channel as part of their TV package can watch all 7 Pac-12 channels live online at XfinityTV.com (but not Pac-12 Now) at http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/specials/Pac-12.  ***Note that Xfinity streaming is only on the Web, not on mobile devices such as iPad and iPhone.  Please contact Comcast with any questions about when Pac-12 streaming will be supported through the Xfinity TV apps on mobile devices.
So Charter, we aren't buying your baloney!!!!

Charter Baloney Part I

The following is a "Guest Opinion" published in today's Medford Mail Tribune  authored by
Frank Antonovich , vice president and general manager of Charter-Northwest

Charter's business is providing programming customers are interested in and want to watch. So, why wouldn't we want to provide Pac-12 Network, a network aligned so closely with Pac-12 teams, to our customers in Pac-12 Conference states?
We do.
When the Pac-12 universities moved games that were available on other TV stations and sports networks in years past to its own network, it was for one reason — money. These tax-payer-supported universities are now demanding an additional "tax payment" from each TV household for a handful of games previously free on local broadcast television.
A Charter customer recently told Mail Tribune reporter Dan Jones that he would like to see Charter at least offer a pay-per-view option for Pac-12 games.
So would we.
Pac-12 Network refused our offer to provide the games On Demand or allow us to offer games only to customers who want it, as the reader suggested.
Pac-12 Network has demanded a high price and placement on Charter's Expanded Basic level of service (which includes nearly all Charter customers) at a significant cost per customer each and every month. This would make Pac-12 one of the most expensive programming services on Charter's lineup, which would surely influence the price of our service to all customers, not just Pac-12 fan customers.
We have suggested other alternatives which would allow carriage for those desiring to support these teams, while protecting those who don't have the wherewithal to do so.
ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FOX, NBC, CBS SportsNet and FX will continue to provide the majority of Pac-12 Conference televised events, including most marquee conference match-ups. So, the cost demands from Pac-12 Network do not match up with the contests they plan to provide.
We believe it's important for you to know that Charter has successfully negotiated agreements with many other sports programmers, including Big Ten Network.
The Pac-12 Network's proposed terms and conditions are much less favorable than any of those agreements. In fact, the Pac-12 tax-payer-supported universities are requesting that Charter pay higher prices for their network than what has been agreed to with other area providers serving your neighbors in nearby communities.
It's a shame to have our customers placed in the midst of this negotiation; however, that's where the Pac-12 clearly wants them.

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121026/SPORTS/210260346/-1/SPORTS

The Medford Mail Tribune has a news story on how upset Oregon and Oregon State fans are over Charter's refusal to carry the Pac 12 Networks. One fan called Charter and the person he talked to had no idea what he was talking about. Incredible! This weekend both Oregon and Oregon State are on the Pac 12 Networks!  Charter refused to talk to the Mail Tribune! A lot of angry Charter customers in Southern Oregon.  Time for Charter to get out of Southern Oregon and let someone else take over the franchise! Oregon has no professional football team and the Ducks and the Beavers are Oregon's Teams !!!!!! We are very passionate about them.Charter Business take a hike.

If you live in the footprint of the Pac 12 and have the Dish  you will get the Pac 12 Networks on a lower tier.  That is, at this time, the big "hang up" for Charter! They don't want to put it on a lower tier in the Pac 12 states and the Pac 12 Network is insisting upon it.
